We are proud to announce our continued sponsorship with The Big Draw... but who are they and what do they do?

The Big Draw is a charity founded in 2000 by the Guild of St George and was created to help wellbeing, thought, creativity and social and cultural engagement through the medium of drawing. Through diverse programmes, the charity celebrates drawing and it's power to help all. Each year the festival has a new theme. This year the theme is "Come Back To Colour" and is all about rediscovering vibrancy in life after the difficulties that lockdowns and the pandemic brought. Artgecko Sketch has a Podcast!

Welcome to Geck T'Know, the new podcast by Artgecko Sketch!

From art tips, tricks, chats, bants and more! This podcast is dedicated to everything art. Your hosts Gemma and Natasha will take you on a journey through the world of Artgecko Sketchbooks and open up our creative community to share even more with you!

Our first episode featured Natasha Zelen, otherwise known as ArtByNz. NZ is an upcycle artist who loves to decorate anything and everything she can get her hands on! Her style is inspired by everything retro, traditional flash tattoos and pop art. She can be found mostly in charity shops looking for her next piece to create.
During this episode we chat to her about her practice, her upcoming exhibition and use the opportunity to give out some valued advice for any aspiring artist. Side note- this podcast will also fulfil any food lover out there... especially if you love cheese. Check it out to find out why!

The Great GeXchange has begun!

Keep Scrolling for project updates

Remember the days of Chain Letters where letters are sent along a chain of people and the receiver of the letter will send the letter on to whomever they want? Well we wanted to do just that but with sketchbooks!

In January we sent out two A4 Splashy Geckos to artists starting off the chain. From there, the artists create their artworks and sent on the sketchbooks to whomever they wanted to. When the sketchbooks are full, they will be returned to Artgecko HQ. Every artist involved will receive a high quality print of their work and we will be showcasing each page ON HERE, for everyone to see!

We have been keeping tabs on the books as they move around the UK and we must say, it's fascinating watching them go! On our socials, we have been frequently posting up to date maps with markers on the sketchbooks whereabouts, so make sure to keep an eye out!

November 2022 Update!

The Great GeXchange has returned!

These two sketchbooks really have been on an adventure! They visited South Scotland, South Wales and many different places in England. In fact, they really enjoyed their time in The Midlands, as you can see by our map, before returning to Artgecko HQ in Yorkshire, England.

We want to say a massive thank you to every artist who has got involved with The Great GeXchange . Without you and your efforts, this project would never have happened and we are blown away by the incredible responses.

The project has been a massive succes s and we are thrilled to see the incredible pieces in the books. Each artist involved has created a unique and interesting twist on the theme "Something Green" and you can see what was created below!

SPRING 2023 UPDATE! WE HAVE A ZINE!!

The Great GeXchange was created as a way to celebrate our artistic community which we truly think it did! Alongside the project however, something more was created. After collaborating with the artist @background_bob we decided to turn the books into a zine, so that people could have their own copies of the work to look at whenever they like. All the money from the zines is being donated to Wipe Away Those Tears , a charity based in Essex that grants terminally and seriously ill children a wish of their choice. Each zine features every single artist that took part in The Great GeXchange as well as a collaborative section where you can create your very own Background Bob masterpiece. They are a handy A5 size, ideal for on the go reading and have been designed by us for you!
